In Spring Quarter, our competition teams go to winter conference to compete and present against other schools from IL, WI, MD, and ND. Transportation and lodging is provided and this year it's at Minneapolis, MN from April 16-19.
Surveying

Create and present a mapping project based on given coordinates. Use total stations and pacing to measure volume/ area, leveling, distance/ direction, etc.
Concrete Canoe

Design and create a canoe out of concrete. Then during winter conference race it against other teams!
Sustainable Solutions
Captain: Zach Crampton (zachcrampton2026@u.northwestern.edu)
Solve realistic problems in the civil engineering realm using innovation and creativity. Develop knowledge in sustainable practices and integrate natural systems and engineering. Last year’s project: redeveloping an office building into a mixed-use land development.
Steel Bridge
Captain: Brianna Berdiales (o8o4z5@u.northwestern.edu)
Given a specific scenario and location, design and construct a bridge in accordance to load and area requirements. At conference the bridge is judged based on aesthetics, documentation, build time, and sucess rate.
