What is Steel Bridge?
Steel Bridge is a national competition jointly sponsored by the American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC) and ASCE. Each year, colleges and universities across the country compete to design and build a 1:10 scale model of a steel bridge. Click here to learn more about the 2015 National Student Steel Bridge Competition.
Design and fabrication is completely done by students, so over the course of the year, team members learn how to use structural analysis programs, AutoCAD, various shop machines, and welding. At Northwestern, students of any major and year are welcome to join our team, no experience or expertise necessary. It is a great way to get to know the people in the Civil Engineering department at Northwestern and gain experience working on a team project.
How Can I Join?
The Steel Bridge team is open to undergraduates and graduates of any major! Meetings this quarter are held on Wednesday nights at 8PM in Tech AG52. Work days are on Sundays from 10AM-6PM in the Tech A-Wing Basement. Send an email to the NU Steel Bridge email address for more info.
